Motorola Solutions, a global communications company headquartered in Chicago, is set to acquire Silvus Technologies, a Los Angeles-based defense wireless radio firm, in a deal worth $4.4 billion.
Silvus develops mobile communications datalinks that leverage a software-defined waveform to enable data transmission without any fixed infrastructure. Supporting frontline operations in sectors like military and law enforcement, Silvus modernizes broadband wireless connectivity with capabilities that allow for the private and secure transmission of critical video, voice and data communications.
Motorola Solutions’ technology serves customers ranging from public safety agencies to enterprise organizations, working to help fuel collaboration that enhances the safety of communities, schools, hospitals and businesses. Its acquisition of Silvus is slated to close in Q3 or Q4 of 2025. The companies will merge their engineering teams and leverage Motorola Solutions’ global go-to-market footprint to reach more customers.
“This acquisition underscores our unwavering conviction that technology is the bedrock for protecting communities, securing borders and defending against today’s ever evolving threats, whether in the air, on the ground or in the water,” Greg Brown, Motorola Solutions’ chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “As a result, we’re now expanding our intelligent network footprint and powering next-generation security for those who stand on the front lines everywhere.”
